Driving the #100 Penrite backed Ford Mustang, the duo started all the way back in 18th position but steadily climbed the field through smart strategy and consistent pace. The race, held at the iconic Mount Panorama Circuit, was disrupted by rain showers and several safety cars, which tested the nerves and focus of every driver.
As the race entered its chaotic final stages, a late clash between Cooper Murray and James Golding set the stage for Payne to pounce. Golding initially crossed the line first, but a five-second penalty for his part in the incident dropped him down the order, officially handing the win to Payne and Tander.
