2011 Nissan GT-R
This is the R35 Nissan GT-R. It came out in December 2007 and had a powerful hand-built engine called the VR38DETT — it has two turbos. When it first launched, it made 353 kilowatts of power and 588 newton-metres of torque.
The R35 was all about “Kaizen,” a Japanese word that means always improving. From 2007 to early 2025, Nissan kept upgrading it with better tech, more power, and design changes.
This GT-R was the first one not based on the old Skyline sedan. It was its own car. It could go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, and its top speed was 300 km/h. That made it one of the fastest cars of its time.
It even did a lap around Germany’s Nürburgring track in 7 minutes and 29 seconds — very quick for a car you can drive on the street.
Some people didn’t like that it was heavy or that it didn’t have a manual gearbox. But Nissan used that weight and technology to make it super stable and fast in any weather — rain, snow, or dry roads.
In 2011, it got a new look and even more power — an extra 33 kilowatts and 24 newton-metres. Over time, it just kept getting better.
