HISTORY OF THE MUSEUM

Geoff and Sylvia Smedley opened the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania in 1987, becoming a hit with car lovers! Geoff was an amazing mechanic who worked on cool cars.

After moving in 1996, the museum reopened in 2019 at 84 Lindsay Street in Invermay. Now, it features displays like “The Hall of Muscle” with awesome Australian Muscle Cars. A highlight is Geoff's 1953 Morgan Plus Four, honoring his love for cars. Though Geoff passed away in 2021, his passion lives on!
