1910 FN FOUR 498CC

Beginning production in 1905, the Fabrique Nationale (FN) Four was the first production inline-four motorcycle. Over the course of production, it gained a two-speed transmission and a rear drum-brake. It was the fastest production motorcycle in the world from 1911 and 1912, with a top speed of 64km/h! This motorcycle had an exciting chapter begin in 2012, with then 68-year-old Ron Fellowes setting out to travel nearly 15,000km on the 102-year-old motorcycle. As seen inscribed on the tank, the motorcycle tackled some of the most hostile parts of the earth, the journey led to him being robbed, threatened with guns and surviving treacherous terrain. The ‘Tapis’ beer cap on the steering head was from a group of monks that gifted it to Ron out of pity. The story of the motorcycle is the subject of the 2015 book; ‘No Room for Watermelons’, written by Ron and his wife.
